A six member delegation of All Pakistan Textile Association (APTA) headed by its Chairman, Adil Mehmood met Adviser to Prime Minister on Economic Affairs, Dr Salman Shah at Islamabad and discussed problems confronted by the textile sector. On the assurance of Salman Shah, APTA postponed its earlier programme of holding a demonstration in front of the President House on July 23.
According to Adil Mahmood, Dr Salman Shah assured that all the problems of textile sector would be resolved within two weeks. He further said that the issue of increasing bank mark-up percentage would be resolved soon, after the approval of the banking authorities. He also assured that cotton import through Wagha would be allowed after abolishing legal anomalies.
Adil Mahmood said that the meeting was very positive and "We hope positive outcome of this meeting". The other members of APTA delegation included Nazir Piracha, Mehfooz Elahi, Khurum Khaliq Khan and Naseer Sheikh.
