Pakistan has taken up with India the issue of improper arrangements made for transportation of over 400 Pakistanis from New Delhi railway station to Ajmair Sharif for participation in the Urs of Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti.
A Pakistan High Commission official told reporters here on Thursday that due to lack of proper transportation the Pakistanis who reached here at 10 am from Wagah border on Wednesday remained stranded at the New Delhi railway station for more than 10 hours.
He said under a bilateral agreement both governments are responsible for facilitating such visitors and making arrangements for their transportation and accommodation.
The Indian government, he said, had been requested well in advance of the Pakistani group's arrival and New Delhi had later confirmed that arrangements had been put in the place. It was found at Delhi Railway station that not such arrangements had been made to take the group to Ajmair Sharif by train, the official said.
Due to hectic efforts and the intervention of the Pakistan High Commission, a special train eventually took the devotees at 2 am on Thursday morning and the train had now reached Ajmair Sharif.
The official said the Indian government had been requested by the High Commission to ensure that the people face no further hardship. The High Commission has also deputed its officials to facilitate the devotees.
