Labours working at Lawari rail tunnel project, the mega project of the country, have ended their strike after the assurance of public representatives of the area.
The protesting labours were demanding enhancement of their salaries equal to their colleagues working at Dir side, construction of a mosque, posting of a non-local administration officer, stopping the practice of termination of staff without issuing them any notice, life insurance and provision of other facilities.
They also called for recruitment of local staff and reinstatement of their two colleagues who were terminated without any notice. General Councillor Ihsanullah of UC Ashriat, Tehsil Nazim Sartaj Ahmad Khan, District Nazim and UC Ashriat Nazim Syed Imtiaz Hussain Jan and Project Director of Lawari Rail Tunnel, Abdus Samad held negotiations with labours representatives and SAMBU company of Korea working on the project.
After negotiations they persuaded Korean company to fulfil genuine demands of labours and the later agreed. Later on the announcement of successful table talks by Tehsil Nazim, the labours ended their strike. They were assured that a meeting will be held next time for solving their problems.
Tehsil Nazim also stressed upon the local people that this is their own project and they should work hard day and night to complete it as soon as possible.
