Bearish trend was seen in the interbank market on Wednesday as the rupee shed three paisa against dollar for buying and selling at Rs 60.42 and Rs 60.43 respectively, dealers said. Higher import bills increased the dollar demand as the importers were conspicuous to cover their requirements, experts said.
In the world markets, dollar did not show any improvement against the yen on fears about worsening US credit market problems and housing sector weakness prompted investors to shun the US currency, dealers said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The same trend mirrored in the open market as the rupee shed two paisa against dollar for buying and selling at Rs 60.92 and Rs 60.97, they said. The rupee firmly held its overnight levels in relation to euro for buying and selling at Rs 83.70 and Rs 83.80, they said.
