After demolishing Jamia Hafsa complex, the government has now started razing children library situated inside the Jamia compound. On Tuesday, Interior Ministry spokesman, Brigadier Javed Iqbal Cheema had said.
The government has formed a committee comprising experts from NESPAK and CDA to assess feasibility of the buildings since these had been extensively damaged after the eight-day long military operation.
Sources said that the committee also declared the children library dangerous and suggested to demolish it. It is also learnt that the government has decided to establish Darul-Uloom on the site for the students to impart them religious as well as modern education.
Children library issue was the bone of contention between the ICT and Lal Masjid administrations erupted in late January this year over the demolition of seven mosques and serving notices to a number of others. The burqa-clad students of the Jamia Hafsa had occupied the adjacent children library as a protest of demolition of mosque and demanded of the government to rebuilt the razed mosques and withdraw notices.
