The Research and Otolaryngology Department Director at the National University of Singapore has called for evaluating patients suffering from asthma and rhinitis allergies. In his lecture on "challenges in allergy management", Director Professor Wang De Yun said, "Medical science is constantly changing.
What is cutting edge today is obsolete tomorrow. In this ever-evolving environment, medical practitioners, educators and researchers need access to the most comprehensive knowledge about the latest concepts, issues, trends and guidelines in their area of practice or specialty." The Sanofi-Aventis organised the lecture here at a hotel on Thursday and Dr Amanullah Khan and Nasir Farid also made speeches. Department heads, professors and ENT and chest consultants also attended.
Professor Wang presented his research on the epidemiology and prevalence of allergy among the Asian population with demographic details. He talked about the severity and seriousness of allergy and stressed the importance of proper treatment of allergic conditions. He finally elaborated on the concept of united airways.
Professor Wang is an eminent researcher and a member of various international bodies, such as Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA), Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA2LEN) and other international and European expert committees and writing groups. He received the Sam Sanders Basic Science Award from the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) in 2003.
About the significance of Continuous Medical Education, The Sanofi-Aventis collaborated with prominent ENT and Chest specialists to develop an allergy management and prevention programme in Pakistan.
