A seminar titled "Child labour and child slavery a stigma for the civilised world" was held in the main secretariat of the Global Organisation for Human Empowerment and Rights (Goher) Foundation.
Foundation Chief Executive Officer AG Chohan said, "Children are our future and it is the collective responsibility of the state and society to provide a healthy, supportive and affectionate environment to the children. If a nation ignores its children then it is surely destined to be crushed by the misery of the internal crisis."
He said modern civil societies could never be able to have pride in achieving the goal of human development unless the curse of child labour and child slavery was not eliminated. "Children and women are the most vulnerable and weakest part of the society. It is very easy to exploit the children, as they are weak creatures. Unfortunately, child labour and child slavery are also found in the modern societies and they have a rising graph in under developed regions. Poverty should not be a justifiable excuse for permitting child labour, as proper feeding, education and the nurturing of poor children is the responsibility of the state and society," he added. Foundation's Nazia Mushtaq and Faiza Azhar also spoke on the occasion.
