The office of a private security company was reduced to ashes as fire on Saturday erupted on the 5th floor of Business and Finance Centre on I I Chundrigar Road. Sources in fire brigade told Business Recorder that the blaze, for which causes could not be ascertained, completely burnt all records (files) and the infrastructure of the SNM Security Company.
The fire, they said, erupted at 9:08 am and the fire brigade staff was able to extinguish it by 3:00 pm. They said that another office of an insurance firm adjacent to the affected office was also partially damaged. Two firemen, who got minor injuries, were rushed to Civil Hospital after they became unconscious due to suffocation while fighting the fire, said sources.
The building is located opposite the State Bank of Pakistan building. The injured fire-fighters were identified as Mohammad Shahid, 36, son of Ghulam Abbas, and Wasi Tariq, 28, son of Tariq Qamar. Two snorkels, one rescue and 17 vehicles took part in controlling fire.
