Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Secretary Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad on Saturday advised provincial election commissioners to immediately work out modalities for undertaking another exercise to register voters through door-to-door enumeration.
Chairing a meeting at the Commission, Dilshad asked the provincial election commissioners to submit proposals and suggestions for approval by the Election Commission. The Election Commission would review these proposals and suggestions at its meeting scheduled to be held on August 1.
Dilshad told APP that Saturday's emergency meeting was held in compliance with the orders of the Supreme Court and on the direction of the Chief Election Commissioner. "We have started our work in compliance with the Supreme Court's direction," he stated. "Now the Commission would meet on August 1, to look into the proposals of the provincial election commissioners," he added. These provincial election commissioners and senior officers of the Election Commission participated in the meeting.
