Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday assured the government's full support to the families of Jamia Hafsa students in finding their heirs and said facts would not be concealed in this regard.
"The government will leave no stone unturned till the identification of the last missing student of Jamia Hafsa," the Prime Minister told the families of the missing Jamia students in a meeting held at PM House that lasted for about one and a half hour.
Prime Minister Aziz sympathetically attended to the grievances of visitors who lost their children in the operation at the seminary. The Prime Minister at times got touched while listening to the heart-rending accounts about the missing students.
He directed the Chief Commissioner and Secretary Interior to facilitate the families in identifying their children by arranging their visits to jail and providing them complete information.
Prime Minister Aziz told the 12 visiting persons that the entire nation was grieved over the Jamia Hafsa incident and assured them of his personal vigilance on the issue of missing students. He asked them not to fell prey to the propaganda against government's good intentions.
He mentioned setting up of a camp at Sports Complex for information regarding missing students to facilitate their families. The Prime Minister said Pakistan came into being on the basis of religion and thus each citizen should play his role for the uplift of country in line with true Islamic faith, which promotes harmony.
The Prime Minister announced Rs 10,000 each for the families for their boarding expenses during their stay in Islamabad. Secretary Interior Kamal Shah apprised the meeting that 46 Jamia persons in custody were yet to be handed over to their families, while 62 bodies were lying in mortuary for identification against 58 complaints.
The visiting families thanked the Prime Minister for being concerned about the issue. The meeting was attended among others by Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Secretary General PML Mushahid Hussain Sayed and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Khalid Pervaiz.
