Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has decided to install a new 600 MVA transformer to overcome the power supply shortage at Gatti grid station, which is the main source of electricity supply to industrial city.
Talking to newsmen, Ahmad Saeed Akhtar, Chief Executive of Fesco said that presently, 1,350 MW electricity was being supplied in Faisalabad through three 450 MVA power transformers from national grid station Gatti.
He said that the installation of 600 KVA transformer will be completed up to March 2008 and Gatti grid station would be able to provide 1,950 MW electricity supply after completion of this project. To address the issue of bridging the gap between demand and supply the Fesco is working on so many fronts. Presently, he said that Faisalabad's electricity needs are approximately 1,750 MW.
A substantial increase in the consumption of electricity has also been witnessed from 10 percent to 20 percent during the few years due to increase in business activities and industrialisation, he mentioned. He hoped that the installation of new 600 MVA transformer at Gatti grid station will be helpful to meet the growing electricity future needs.
SHUT DOWN PROGRAMME Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has issued shutdown programme for necessary repair, maintenance and expansion of electricity lines.
According to the programme issued here ON Thursday, power supply from Canal Road, Gogera, Railway Road, Phullian and Buchiana feeders will remain suspended from 07:00 am to 11:00 am on August 03, 2007, while Shadman feeder will observe shutdown from 09:00 am to 14:00 pm on Saturday, August 04.
