Important decisions involving effective strategy were taken for protection against terrorism and subversion threats at a high level meeting of police officers held under the chairmanship IG Police Sindh Zia-ul-Hasan Khan here on Thursday.
The IGP directed that security measures be further strengthened throughout the province in view of possible dangers of subversion. He called for round the clock alertness at all important installations, places, buildings, railway stations, bus terminals and shopping centres besides police buildings and security of staff.
He said strict regular check be kept at all entry and exit points and all suspected people, vehicles and items should be completely screened. Stressing on more effective mobile and motorcycle patrolling and snap checking, the IGP said that officers should personally monitor this exercise.
The police officers of Special Branch and CID were told to take legal action against criminals and keep watch on hideouts of suspected elements in co-operation with police officials throughout the province.
The IGP directed that elements involved in terrorism, subversion and anti-state activities be taken to task and complete security for foreigners working on development projects be ensured. He called for further strengthening of intelligence network and Madadgar "15" and said that reporting rooms at all the police stations in the province should be established by August 15.
The meeting was attended by AIG Sindh Niaz Ahmed Siddiqi, AIG Special Branch Fayyaz Ali Khan, RPO Sukkur Bachal Sangri, RPO Hyderabad Salahuddin Babar Khattak, AIG Investigation Zafar Ahmed Farooqi, DIG HQ Waseem Ahmed, DIG Investigation Akhtar Hussain Memon, DIG Operation South Karachi Javed Bukhari, DIG West Falak Khurshid, DIG East Mir Zubair Mahmood, DIGs Larkana, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, DIG CID Mushtaq Shah, DIG Training Mohammed Akbar, DIG Reserve Police Ghulam Asghar Shaikh, DIG Investigation Karachi Manzoor Mughal, DIG Special Branch Syed Zakir Hussain, DIG Security B.M. Abbasi, DIG Communication Shahid Qureshi and other senior officials.
