The rupee moved up slightly against dollar in interbank market on Friday for buying and selling at Rs 60.39 and Rs 60.40, respectively. The rupee was firm as supply of dollars was good to meet the demand, they said.
In the Asian markets dollar steadied against yen at the weekend, holding above a four-month low as traders awaited a closely watched US payrolls report due later in the day. The euro held its gains in respect pf dollar and yen after the European Central Bank left interest rates on hold at four percent, but hinted at a possible rate hike in September.
A rebound in US stocks on Thursday also provided some relief to investors who had been cutting risky positions such as carry trades on deepening worries over a further slump in global equity and credit markets.
