Chinese engineer marries self-created woman robot

Zheng Jiajia, a 31 years old man and an engineer specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) just created and married a ‘female’ robot named Yingying.

Jiajia made this exceptional decision after continual refusals by girls, losing hope in God’s creation, the proficient engineer took things in his hands, deciding to build himself a ‘girlfriend’.

The skillful robot maker built his now-wife, covering all the specification from designing and programming the robot according to his desire. Jiajia found his true love in his-self created ‘Yingying’, a female robot assembled at the end of 2016 according to the South China Morning Post. 

The couple decided to get married soon after and tied the knot in a not so legal ceremony; as marriage is still allowed between two humans.

The couple married in a ceremony with traditional rituals, the bride wore a red shawl around her head and a black suit. The wedding proceeded with close friends and Zheng’s mother. One of the groom’s friends told the paper that he took this unorthodox route only because he couldn’t find a real girlfriend.

The newlywed Yingying the robot weighs 30kgs and is able to speak and recognize limited Chinese characters. The robots lack features like walking and other movement characteristics, but Zheng is enthusiastic about further developing the machine upgrading its features.
