Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took two suo motu notices in public interest/human rights cases. The suo motu notices were taken on news items appearing in the national dailies. In one case, the CJP directed that report be called from Secretary Health Punjab, Lahore on poor condition of DHQ, Hospital, Mianwali.
The CJP further directed to fix the case before Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan in Chamber at Lahore on August 10. The action was taken on an article published in a newspaper regarding poor condition of DHQ, Hospital, Mianwali where neither the medicine are available nor the doctors are performing their duties properly.
The writer of the column has alleged that a renowned person namely Haji Rustam Khan died in ICU due to negligence of doctors as neither any doctor was available nor there was any facility of oxygen. He further alleged that doctors prefer to sit in their private hospital rather than DHQ, Hospital.
In another case, the CJP directed to call report from DCO, Rawalpindi and the hearing of the case has been fixed in Chamber on August 22. According to details Muhammad Zaman, heirs of Manzoor Hussan and Yaqoob Hussain alleged in a letter published in a newspaper that they purchased land near Chakri Road, Rawalpindi. In January 2007 they applied for demarcation and occupation of their land through Distt. Nazim, Rawalpindi. On their application Tehsildar directed Girdawar to do the needful. But still they have not been able to get the occupation.-PR
