PPP leaders her on Wednesday claimed that more defections from the ruling PML-Q) were on-the-cards, as a large number of assembly members were planning to join PPP in the near future.
In a joint statement issued here by the party' provincial secretariat, Ahmed Hussain Dehar, Khalid Hanif Lodhi, Khurshid Ahmed Khan, Rizwan Alam, and Tariq Raza Khan, predicted that the ruling party would soon crumble like a house of cards, and would not find even potential candidates for award of tickets for the coming elections.
They said that PPP would emerge as the largest political force as a result of next elections, and Benazir would become 'prime minister' for the third time. They said she is an astute politician and would continue to engage General Musharraf in dialogue, but never accept him in uniform.
They said that Musharraf must remain in contact with all political parties because it would serve the national interests in view of the country's current political situation. Musharrf's re-election from present assemblies would give rise to controversy, they said, and added that if such a situation arose PPP would use the option of resigning from assemblies or moving the apex court.
