Private educational institutions have almost doubled their tuition and other fees in the federal capital creating acute financial hardship for average income parents.
Expressing concern over abnormal rise in educational expenses, as many as 850 parents have appealed to the President, Prime Minister, Education Minister and the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take notice of the matter in the best interest of the promotion of education.
The parents say that in view of frequent increase in educational expenses, it has become very difficult for them to send their wards to standard institutions to continue their studies. They further complained that the management of these institutions also asks students to make payment for different school functions such as Annual Day, Magic Show, Meena Bazzar etc.
On the other hand, the management does not give good salaries to the teachers, especially female teachers. A teacher gets maximum Rs 5,000 salary but on payment register it is shown double of the actual amount paid.
Private educational institutions are minting money in the form of charging exorbitant fees, but there is no body to check them, they pointed out. Providing standard education to their children in Islamabad has become a dream for the Government servants, an aggrieved parent Ilyas stated. On the one hand the Government is focusing on spreading quality education, but on the other it has not any control on the private schools and colleges.
