Qari Hanif Jhalandari, Secretary General of Wifaq-ul-Madaris Al Arabia Pakistan, (WMAP) on Wednesday categorically denied the reports appeared in a section of press that WMAP had split into factions as differences erupted among Ulema in a conference of Wifaq-ul-Madarris Al Arabia held in Multan on Tuesday.
Talking to newsmen, he said that private channels had exaggerated the story while fact is that none pulled the beard of any participant, manhandled anyone, or used abusive language.
It is a well-planned conspiracy to defame and malign the Ulema. He alleged that some channels were working on the agenda of their foreign masters and they were exploiting the situation.
He said that Wifaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia Pakistan, (WMAP), on Tuesday strongly rejected the government's proposals for constructing either a parking area or expanding the Sunday Bazaar up to the place of Jamia Hafsa and demanded immediate reconstruction of the seminary. The government was warned that if it did not meet their demands, it would be responsible for the consequences.
He strongly condemned the Lal Masjid operation and the demolition of Jamia Hafsa in Islamabad. According to him the members of the WMAP Majlis-e-Shoora, through unanimous resolutions, called for an immediate action against persons responsible for extra-judicial killing of thousands of innocent students in Lal Masjid operation, demanded reconstruction of all demolished mosques in Islamabad, enforcement of Islamic system in the country, withdrawal of all amendments in Sharia laws and shutting down the centres of obscenity and vulgarity.
Maulana Hanif Jhalundari demanded of the government to immediately remove police from Jamia Faridia and hand it over to the teachers' committee, reopen Lal Masjid for prayers, release and re-appoint Maulana Abdul Aziz as Khateeb of the mosque. The WMAP has also constituted a six-member committee to finalise the affairs of Jamia Faridia and its branches.
The Wafaq's central executive member, former Majlis-i-Aamla member and Ulema Action Committee head Hafiz Hussein Ahmed of Nowshera said here that Maulana Salimullah had resigned, while Jalandhry would quit after Ramazan. However Jhalundari denied that the Wafaq's president had resigned or he had promised to quit after Ramazan. He said the allegations against Wafaq office-bearers were baseless while Maulana Tahir Ashrafi had no concern with the Wafaq's CEC.
