Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has asked the operation department to change the dates of the 19th National U18 Championship to get enough time for PFF staff to gear up for third President's Cup to run in Lahore from September 20 to 30.
Lahore 's well-known Model Town Football Club will run the event from August 28 to September 7. The event was supposed to start on August 30 as per initial schedule. It will be first time that MTFC will arrange the national-level event after partially hosted the matches of the 51st and 52nd National soccer event and National Club Championship in the last two years.
Balochistan will defend the title by edging out Lahore's Wohaib FC 3-1 on penalties after 0-0 draw at Abottabad's frontier force regimental centre during final of 18th edition two years ago.
The 16 teams are being allowed to take part, comprising three U-18 teams of those clubs who had booked berth for Pakistan Premiership 2007 viz Wohaib FC (Lahore), Afghan Club (Chaman) and Punjab Medical College (Faisalabad). Host Model Town Football Club will complete the frame with Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, NWFP, Northern Areas, FATA, Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Islamabad plus top four teams of ongoing PFF Youth Cup 2007.
The 19th National U18 Championship 2007 will help the PFF make up a strong team taking on India, Iran, Bahrain, Oman and Lebanon in the AFC Youth Championship from 1-11 November 2007.
