The government has appointed Tasnim Aslam as Pakistan's new ambassador to Italy. Aslam presently serving as spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she holds two Masters degrees in Business Education and International Relations.
Ms Aslam joined Foreign Service of Pakistan on October 18, 1984 and held various diplomatic assignments in Pakistan Missions abroad including Paris (1989-91), The Hague (1991-93) and New Delhi (1997-2000). She served at the Headquarters as Section Officer (1987-89 and 1994) and Director (1995-97 & 2001-05), Director General UN and Spokesperson (2005-May 2007), says a Foreign Office press release.
