The All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) has decided to launch decisive movement from August 14 against the government to restore genuine democracy in the country. "We are all set to launch a pragmatic and decisive movement across the country to end the reign of General Musharraf.
The first meeting of the series will be launched on August 14 in Rawalpindi," Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) deputy parliamentary leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told a news conference here on Sunday.
Earlier, the first meeting of the series was decided to hold in Quetta on August 19, which was postponed due to absence of some of the nationalist leaders, who went to Kabul to attend the Pak-Afghan Joint Jirga. He said that arrangements for the public meeting had been made the last 10 days and all the parties of APDM are actively involved in them.
Among others, he said, nationalist leaders from Balochistan and Sindh would come to Rawalpindi to attend the gigantic public meeting on the occasion of freedom day. The movement would prove to be decisive for ending the rule of General Musharraf, he added.
Nisar informed the media that the second meeting would be held in Quetta on August 22. The movement would start from Rawalpindi and end in Islamabad by lashing out the dictatorship of General Musharraf.
He vowed to block President Musharraf's way to get himself re-elected as President from the present assemblies with or without uniform, saying that the days of dictatorship is in numbers and nothing could save it. "It is not October 12, 1999, and now judiciary is more active and all the democratic forces are united to resist any undemocratic step of the rulers", he maintained.
He was of the view that in case of the re-election of the President, all options including resignations from assemblies, going to the Supreme Court and taking direct actions by launching protest movements across the country would be used.
