The volume of Hong Kong's domestic exports in June 2007 fell by 19.7 percent from a year earlier, while re-exports increased by 12.8 percent, the Census and Statistics Department said on Monday.
The total volume of the territory's exports, including re-exports through China, rose 10.9 percent while total imports climbed 12.8 percent from a year ago, the department said in a statement. The volume of domestic exports for the first half of 2007 decreased by 26.4 percent from a year earlier while that of re-exports rose by 11.9 percent. Total exports increased 9.6 percent and imports increased by 10.6 percent.
Prices of domestic exports meanwhile rose 0.4 percent in June 2007 from a year earlier and re-export prices increased by 1.9 percent. Total export prices were up 1.8 percent and import prices also increased by 1.4 percent, the data showed.
Prices of domestic exports for the first half of 2007 were 0.5 percent higher, while those of re-exports increased by 2.4 percent. Total export prices were up by 2.3 percent and import prices increased by 2.2 percent.
The department said prices are based on unit values that do not take into account changes in the composition or quality of goods traded, except for some selected commodities for which specific price indices are available.
