In spite of many areas remaining water-logged in the city due to the effects of the heavy rains in recent days, people in Karachi celebrated the 60th anniversary of Pakistan Independence Day with an abandon and enthusiasm which was remarkable, reports UPP correspondent.
The biggest turn up was on the seaside at Clifton and Sea view in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area. The people celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm and there were several hundred thousand who visited the Clifton and Sea view beach area to celebrate the Independence Day.
At exactly midnight on late Monday as the 14th August was ushered in, there was a lot of firing in the air in different areas with arms while firecrackers were also used, though such display with arms is banned in the city. The people who enjoyed the various entertainment and playing facilities at Clifton also numbered several thousand.
