Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that enormous development opportunities exist in shipbuilding sector. Taking benefit from this sector, the economy and industry of the country can be boosted, he added.
This he said while talking to Karachi Shipyard Managing Director Vice Admiral Iftikhar Rao who called on him at Governor House here on Friday. The Managing Director briefed the governor on working of his organisation.
He said Karachi Shipyard had been equipped with modern technology and infrastructure. It was making progress with the co-operation of government and Pakistan Navy. Iftikhar Rao said that state of the art Lift and Transfer System had been approved this year for the development of shipyard. Consultant of the project had also been hired and work would soon be started.
Dr Ibad assured the Managing Director of provincial government's full co-operation. He said that shipbuilding industry would prove as catalyst for economic growth of the country besides reducing poverty and unemployment across the country.
