Japan's Minister for Defence and Special Envoy of Japanese Prime Minister Ms Yuriko Koike on Wednesday called on President General Pervez Musharraf here at his Camp Office. They discussed Pak-Japan bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over the progress made over the years between the two countries.
The Japanese defence minister noted the role of Pakistan in the war against global terrorism and the sacrifices it has made to fight the scourge. She also noted the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in this regard.
She assured Japan's continued assistance to Pakistan for its development and progress and said her country desires to see Pakistan economically strong and vibrant. Ms Koike said her country would like Pakistan to join the Non-Proliferation Regime.
President Pervez Musharraf appreciated the strong bonds the two countries enjoy in political, economic and other fields and hoped their ties will continue to further strengthen in the days ahead.
He said Pakistan has deployed over 90,000 troops along its border with Afghanistan and was taking effective measures to check illegal movement across the one of the most inhospitable terrains. The meeting was attended by Senior Minister for Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal and other senior civil and military officials.
