Fish seed available in Punjab at cheaper rates

Supply of fish seed of various indigenous and exotic fish species has been started throughout the province and farmers can contact department hatcheries, fish seed nursery units and district offices to achieve seed at cheaper rates.
Director General Fisheries Punjab Dr Muhammad Ayub stated this while presiding over a departmental meeting. He said that fish farming can play an important role in poverty alleviation and economic uplift of farming community and Punjab government is providing all possible incentives to those associated with this sector.
He said that government is taking keen interest in the promotion of fisheries sector and provision of loans to the farmers on only two percent mark-up is a proof of this fact.
