Former French finance minister Dominique Strauss-Kahn pledged Monday to push for reform of the International Monetary Fund as his campaign to win the top job at the IMF drew to a close.
Strauss-Kahn, a 58-year-old economics professor who once harboured presidential ambitions, is due to travel to Latin America to lobby for support as Europe's candidate for IMF managing director.
"My last visit to Asia and the discussions that I had there with Chinese, Korean and Indian leaders have reinforced my conviction. I want to the candidate of reform of the IMF, " Strauss-Kahn said in a statement.
