Korean Muslim Federation has called upon Taliban to release detained Korean citizens and show respect for humanity as well as Islamic norms. "The Holy month of Ramazan is approaching and Taliban should release the hostages immediately and prove to the world that Muslims do not believe in violence," said Director, Korean Muslim Federation, Sheikh Imam Suleman Lee Haeng.
He was talking to participants of a dinner hosted in his honour last night by renowned Islamic scholar and Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University, Professor Anis Ahmed.
A 3-member delegation led by Imam Suleman arrived here to make efforts for release of Korean hostages in Afghanistan. The members of the delegation also made a passionate appeal to all peace loving people to extend full support and assistance in getting the Korean hostages free from their captives.
The members of the delegation expressed the view that Muslims in Korea were trying their best in post 9/11 scenario to interact with members of community and convey the true image of Islam. Sheikh Imam Suleman Lee Haeng said his organisation is preaching Islam in Korea and carrying out welfare activities not only for Muslim community but also for other people in that country.
He appreciated warm welcome accorded to the delegation by various organisations in Pakistan and thanked Dr Anis Ahmed for hosting dinner in their honour. The other members of the delegation include Naib Imam of central mosque in Seoul, Abdul Rehman Lee and Zaki Jeong. A Pakistani businessman in Korea, Zulfiqar Ali Khan is also accompanying the delegation.
