The Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority (Erra) is hosting a poster competition amongst the school going students of the affected areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and NWFP on the eve of the 2nd anniversary of October 8 killer earthquake.
This was disclosed by Erra official while talking to APP on Thursday. He said the purpose of holding that competition was to sensitise youth of the affected areas about disaster preparedness and management while at the same time promoting a sense of ownership of development in their areas.
All students enrolled in any of the private or public sector schools in the earthquake-hit districts of AJK and NWFP are eligible to participate. The competition would be held in two categories, he added.
Moreover, he went on to say that in the first category the competition would be held among primary and middle schools and in the second category it would be held among secondary school students.
He informed that themes of the poster competition include highlighting of relief, recovery, reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in the earthquake-hit areas. These posters would be judged by a penal of experts headed by senior official of Erra.
The Erra official told that the first three selected posters in each of the two categories would be awarded cash prizes of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively besides shields and certificates. The last date for submission of entries is September 20, next, he added.
