A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench has ordered the Punjab University to allow bachelors' students to get admission in MSc without taking their national testing system entry tests. The court ruled that it was discrimination that some other departments had enrolled their students into MSc without taking their entry test.
The petitioners' counsel, Malik Abdul Wahid, said the university had informed them that they would have to spend four years in BSc and two years in MSc under the direction of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and after succeeding in BSc examinations they would be enrolled in MSc without taking any entry tests.
They passed BSc exams and fulfilled the MSc criteria but the Dean Faculty of Botany refused to let them enrol in MSc and force them to pass the test to get admission in MSc.
Even after the approval of chairmen of the departments to give them admissions but the Deans were not implementing the chairmen's orders and creating hurdles for students. They also revealed that the Chemistry and Environmental Sciences departments had enrolled their students without taking any tests.
