At the call of Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA), all petrol pumps and filling stations remained closed here on Friday as part of a countrywide strike against government decision to cut their profit on petrol. Motor cyclists and non-CNG motorists faced difficulty in reaching their destination.
Hundreds of vehicles swarmed the petrol pumps late on Thursday night to get their fuel tanks filled to avoid inconvenience on the day of strike. PPDA spokesman said that fuel station owners found it hard to run their business with that much profit. The government has cut the profit to 39 paisa per litre. The dealers called this move a "big blow to petrol pumps". However, CNG stations remained open.
