University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) has signed 16 MoUs with national and international industrial, scientific and research organisations in a bid to strengthen its ties with relevant institutions.
Recently, from June 2006 to August 2007, UAF established linkages with 11 international and five national organisations, university sources said. To exchange scientists, scientific literature, information and research methodologies, UAF signed MoU with International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) USA.
An MoU with Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences China was signed to develop collective activities in the mutually identified areas of research and education to promote beneficial staff visits/exchange between the participating institutes.
In order to establish outreach centre at UAF for providing improved access to information about opportunities for higher education in United States, an MoU was signed with United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan. Academic, research, and R&D linkages would be strengthened under various MoUs between UAF and Insituto Zooprofilattico Sprimentale Dell' Umberia E Delle Marche, Via G. Salvemini, Perugia, Italy, Agrocampus Rennes 65, rue de St Brieuc - 35042 Rennes Cedex-France, Universidade Federal Do Ceara (Brazil), International Network on Participatory Irrigation Management INPIM, Islamabad, International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (Icarda), Zhejiang Forestry University China, and Nestle Pakistan Ltd.
At national level UAF signed five MoUs in order to promote and accelerate the progress of research, education and training various agriculture and allied disciplines with Remount Veterinary & Farms Corps (RV&FC), Parc Islamabad, Rural Development Foundation, and Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences Uthal-Balochistan, whereas Population Council, Islamabad will assist UAF in improving the quality of Master in Population Science (MPS) programme.
