Punjab Communication and Works Minister, Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Khan has said the RS 150 million construction work on a minister block at the old Labour Department is in full swing. Khan was chairing a department meeting on Friday said the block would be completed at a cost of RS 745.02 million with RS 180 million more already being spent in June 2007.
The meeting also reviewed the pace of work on the construction of gymnasium and uplifting of main entrance gate of Civil Secretariat. This project would be completed with the cost of Rs 24.39 million.
"As much as Rs 16.56 million have been allocated for this scheme while Rs 7.82 million had been spent up to June 2007. This project will be completed by the end of current fiscal year," he said.
The minister also ordered the chief engineer to visit the projects and submit the progressive report in 15 days. He said appreciation letters would be given to such officers completing the projects in time. However, Khan ordered stern action against those failing to meet the deadline.
