The ongoing war on terror must be won to ensure safe, stronger, integrated and extremists free Pakistan for the posterity. One cannot help but endorse the stance of President General Pervez Musharraf in this respect as the stakes involved are indeed very high.
Handful of extremists, terrorists and militants are threatening the security, integrity and very existence of Pakistan which was carved out of the world map after offering sacrifices of millions of men, women and children. No matter how many more lives are lost but Pakistan cannot be allowed to go into wrong hands somehow or the other.
Talking to Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao the other day, as reported by the National Press, President General Pervez Musharraf emphatically stated "we must win war on terror otherwise a handful of extremists will take the country to the brink of extremism and disaster".
General Pervez Musharraf said that such elements must be defeated by using not only military forces but also political and social contacts to exert pressure on the misguided elements to bring them on the right path.
Undoubtedly, extremists, terrorists and militants for achieving their ulterior motives are creating disturbances and killing innocent people as well as security personnel who are performing their sacred duty of safeguarding and protecting security of Pakistan.
General Pervez Musharraf has rightly urged the people at large to use their political and social influences and contacts for supplementing the government efforts to defeat such elements who are indulging in anti-people and anti-State hostile activities and killing men, women and children only to further their ulterior objectives.
Needless to emphasise that the people at large in general and those in the tribal areas in particular have to play their positive role in joining hands with the security forces to chase the extremists, militants and terrorists out of Pakistan.
