Sixteen special Ramazan Bazars would be set up to provide edibles and other items of daily use at affordable prices to the consumers during the holy month of Ramazan. These Bazars would be arranged in addition to the 12 Juma (Friday), 12 Mangle (Tuesday), and 13 Itwar (Sunday) bazars being arranged already in different parts of the city.
This was decided in a meeting of the District Price Control Committee, which held here with District Coordination Officer (DCO) Major Azam Suleman Khan (Retired) in the chair. The meeting was also attended by government functionaries, members of the district labour, industry and market committees and representatives of retailers, wholesalers and traders.
The DCO thanked industrialists and traders for their cooperation in this regard and said the step of reducing prices during Ramazan would not only facilitate the fasting Muslims but also help business community to earn blessings of the Allah Almighty.
He said that special Ramazan Bazar, Juma and Itwar Bazars would be set up at all the Tehsil headquarters and important towns to provide items of daily use at cheaper rates.
He said that pulses, flour, ghee, sugar, meat, fruits, vegetables and other edibles would be made available to the consumers at specially reduced prices in these bazars with the cooperation of wholesalers, dealers, retailers and owners of local sugar, ghee and flour mills. He directed the retailers to display the price-lists at prominent places at their shops and use correct weights and measures.
Meanwhile, DCO Jhang Rizwanullah Baig has vowed that the district administration would ensure stability of prices of daily use items during Ramazan. "The district government Jhang will ensure that fruits, vegetables and consumers products will be sold at controlled prices during the holy month," Baig said while chairing a meeting of the District Price Control Committee (DPCC) and traders' delegations from fruit and vegetable market.
The DCO heard the suggestions of the representatives and the traders and finalised the prices of the utility items with consciences of both sides. He urged the traders to ensure the provision of quality items at fixed prices in the holy month as the federal and provincial governments wanted to provide relief to people in the month.
