A seven-member full bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard three petitions filed against the price hike of petroleum products. These petitions were filed by Secretary General of PML(N) Iqbal Zafr Jhagra, Senator Rukhsana Zuberi and Maulvi Iqbal Hyder.
They have contended that the government had been illegally raising the prices of the petroleum products by passing interest of the consumers. The court directed the petitioners to implead the Ministry of Finance and Federal Board of Revenue in the petitions and adjourned the case for two weeks.
