Flour millers have demanded of the government to increase their wheat quota in Ramazan to keep the supply of flour smooth. Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry's zonal committee chairman for flour milling Bilal Sufi in a meeting with Punjab Food Secretary Ahmed Yar Khan pleaded if the government did not increase the wheat quota in accordance with their needs, the situation would further aggravate during the holy month.
The government's failure to meet this demand of the flour millers would mean that it was encouraging a few hoarders, he added. It is very difficult for the flour millers to get wheat at high price and provide flour in the market at lower rate, he said. "Therefore, we urge the government to make a sufficient raise in our quota to help us maintain the smooth supply in the holy month."
