Member Central Board of Revenue (CBR) Shaid Rahim Sheikh on Friday assured the members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) that under "Customs Administration Reform (CARE) system all the import items will be cleared in 48 hours.
He stated this in a meeting with President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nasir Khan here today. He said that CBR is implementing business friendly policies for the enhancement of Industrial culture. President ICCI Nasir Khan earlier discussing the member CBR said that department is taking more that one week to clear this single description of iron and steel scrap.
Sometimes they enhance the value without any justification, just to delay the clearance, resulting not only financial losses to importer but also a raw material shortage at production stage by the concerned industries. He suggested to member CBR Shahid Rahim Sheikh to make necessary arrangements to solve the problems. Member CBR taking the matter serious and issued the order to clear the material in 48 hours. Former President ICCI Khalid Javeid and Vice President Steel Melters Association Javeid Iqbal were also present in the meeting.
