The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reduced customs duty on the import of sugar (pharmaceutical grade) from 25 to 10 percent. The board has amended SRO.567(I)/2006 of June 5, 2006 through a notification issued on Monday.
According to the notification, 10 percent concessionary rate of duty would be applicable on the import of a raw material, sugar (pharmaceutical grade). This is subject to the condition that the raw material should only be used for the manufacture of pharmaceutical products.
The quantity of the pharmaceutical raw material would be determined by the health ministry. Through another amendment, the board has reduced customs duty on the import of PVC/PVDCL (pharmaceutical grade) from 25 to 10 percent.
