In occupied Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed deep concern over New Delhi's approach to the dialogue process on Kashmir dispute. Mirwaiz said that Hurriyat was neither against nor had it ever shown any rigidity in the dialogue process for the resolution of Kashmir dispute, KMS reported.
He said, "New Delhi has been very stubborn and has not fulfilled the promises and assurances it had given to us in the last round of talks in May 2006". In future, New Delhi would have to initiate measures and make sincere advances, then only could the process of dialogue be restored, he added. Mirwaiz said that he had applied for a fresh passport, but was yet to get any response from the Regional Passport Officer (RPO) of Government of India.
"I applied for the travel document four months, ago but it has not been issued. This time I think the government of India is not interested in releasing the documents. Otherwise, this should have come by now as they knew I had to travel to attend a conference in Florida, which began Saturday last" he pointed out.
Mirwaiz said, "The Government of India should not have stopped me from visiting abroad as it is against the fundamental rights and I would have only put forth my views on resolution of the Kashmir issue which are known to everyone".
Mirwaiz has been invited to participate in the ministerial meeting of Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir and the annual coordination meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the OIC being held during the 62nd session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York from September 26 to October 2.
He had got invitation to the third International Conference on Kashmir, organised by the London-based Justice Foundation on November 28, and International meeting of Leaders Project called by former US Defence Secretary Stephen Cohen and the Pugwash Conference in Italy.
