The Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation for Disabled (LABARD) is working hard to expand its services loop as the number of disabled persons in the country is on the rise.
LABARD President Muhammad Pervaiz Malik, Secretary General Bushra Aitzaz and Joint Secretary Madiha Ejaz in a statement issued here on Monday said that LABARD was using all its resources to extend help to the disabled persons but due to lack of information, a large number of disabled persons could not gain any benefit from LABARD services.
They said the LABARD launched an awareness campaign and established camps in various parts of the city. First five-day camp was established at Main Gazi Road Link Defence Road, second six-day camp was established at Chaudhry Park Bilal Ganj, third camp was established at Islampura, next camp was established at Borhwala Chowk, Paki Thati, Samnabad, fifth camp was established at Captain Jamal Raod Sanda Kalan, sixth at Shadipura Daroghawala Chowk while last camp was established at Pak Elektron Ltd premises. The initiative got very positive results as 48, 76, 20, 60, 52, 82 and 85 disabled people got themselves registered with LABARD.
