Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday said that Pakistan has achieved record economic growth and stability yet there are certain challenges which have to be confronted in order to achieve the desired level of progress and prosperity.
He was talking to Secretary General of Commonwealth Donald McKinnon here at the Prime Minister House this afternoon. The Prime Minister said Pakistan is embarked upon structural reforms agenda, which would ensure continuity and consistency of policy.
Structural reforms in many sectors including banking, capital markets and telecom have attracted investment, created jobs and provided better quality of life for the people, he added. The challenges of militancy and extremism in this region, the Prime Minister said, are directly related to peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The international community he said not only has to contribute towards the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan, but also has to ensure political and economic stability in the neighbouring country.
