Punjab Minister for Power Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani has ordered electricity inspectors to submit an updated progress report on levy of Electricity Duty (ED) for Independent & Small Power Producer, Prime and Standby Generators after the expiry of 40 days of the assessing month.
He said this while presiding over a meeting held to review the performance of Electric Inspectors, here on Wednesday.
Chief Engineer (Power), Muhammad Yaqoob, Incharge Reconciliation Cell, Iftikhar Ahmad Randhawa, Project Manager REDP, Liaqat Ali Iqbal and all the Electric Inspectors were present in the meeting.
Matters regarding returns on Levy of Electricity Duty (ED), monitoring and recovery position of ED, test checks of Inspecting officers and arrears detail discussed in detail during the meeting.
Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani said that the latest position regarding capacity of the generators installed, consumer added and load enhanced or reduced must also be supplied by the Inspecting officers / Electric Inspectors on yearly basis whereas, the most recent information in this regard for the last year should also be supplied within a period of fortnight.
Giving the directives he said that the details of monthly returns, yearly, quarterly and monthly abstracts of ED since July 2006 to onward should be submitted at an early date too. He directed Electric Inspectors of Faisalabad and Islamabad to give their respective monthly abstracts of ED from January 2007 to date immediately.
The minister said that the electricity has been one of the basic needs of a man and the rapid development in country has enhanced its demand. He said that the present government is very touchy regarding provision of basic amenities to the public and would not compromise over it. He urged Electric Inspectors to accomplish the target within stipulated period of time.
