District Magistrate Mirpur has imposed restriction, with immediate elect, on the transportation of Wheat and Atta from Mirpur district to adjoining Punjab province here on Wednesday. Official sources told APP here Wednesday that District Magistrate Mirpur enforced section 144 imposing restriction on the movement of atta from outside Mirpur district.
The order shall remain in force for a period of two months. The administration took the action after authorities received reports about smuggling of atta and wheat from Mirpur district to various parts of adjoining Punjab province with ulterior motives to sale the commodity on exorbitant rates.
The local administration, according to the sources, took the action following ongoing reported crisis of shortage of atta and wheat in various parts of the country.
In Azad Jammu Kashmir, the state government gives subsidy on atta and the rates of atta are less in AJK as compared to Punjab. In this situation, elements having vested interest were trying to take illicit benefit from the current reported shortage of Atta.
