General Secretary Pakistan Muslim league (PML-Q) Sindh and Provincial Irrigation Minister, Sardar Nadir Akmal Leghari has welcomed the President's decision to doff uniform after his re-election as President and said the decision was reflective of his 'democratic' mind.
He asked the opposition, to learn lesson from the mistakes of past and let the uniform issue resolve in a political manner. Talking to Sindh PML leaders here on Wednesday, Nadir Leghari referred to bogey of resignations by APDM and said that they should had done this two years back and now it was too late. The assemblies were completing their constitutional term and current year was elections' year.
The PML leader said the verdict of Supreme Court on the uniform issue would be acceptable to the government. Leghari said that instead of politics of protest, democracy would now flourish in the country through vote and the very destiny of the people would change through the development program of President Parvez Musharraf.
He said that people do not return their representatives to assemblies to come back after tendering resignations and rather they expect them of fulfilling their responsibilities as per mandate given by them.
The Minister said the obtaining conditions warrants all political parties to exhibit political acumen and wisdom and while taking decisions keep national interest in view.
Nadir Akmal Leghari said that PML's vote bank in Sindh had surged because of efforts by Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim. "We have strong candidates in Sindh and our fight will be with the PPP", he said and added that PML does not believe in politics of "deal" as only weak people enter into deals.
