Sindh Information Technology Department, under its around Rs 300 million development scheme, is planning to establish a video conferencing system for the Sindh government, linking headquarter offices with mainstream department.
Sources in Sindh IT Department told Business Recorder here on Wednesday that the office, which would be connected via video conferencing system, were Secretariat, Governor House, Chief Minister House, Chief Secretary office and provincial field offices of the district coordination officers (DCOs).
The sources said that the estimate cost of the project would be around Rs 300 million, which would be spent in three to four phases, but it could be varied in case of increase and decrease in number of places that would be connected by the system.
After establishing this system, the head of every organisation either the minister, secretary of the department, Nazims, DCOs or EDOs of the concerned district or any designated officer could interact from their offices with their high-ups or vice versa, said the sources.
They said the total number of sites was over 28 that were planned to be connected by the system while four sites would be covered in the current financial year. The sources said that state of the art equipment would used for the project.
The sources said the offers had been invited from reputable IT firms for the implementation of video conferencing system in Sindh on turnkey basis. They said that project would be awarded on merit by the mid of October, and the project would be first of its kind in the country. They said that the proposed project would facilitate the government offices and higher officials to keep in touch with other departments.
