The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) is being reconstituted and reorganised. This was stated by the Director General of PSQCA, Dr Abdul Ghaffar Soomro. He was chairing a meeting of the PSQCA in his office here on Thursday. Soomro said that keeping in view the performance of the PSQCA, its manpower is being enhanced.
He pointed out that the PSQCA at present checking the quality of the brands of more than 1,000 licensed industries in the country. The PSQCA chief said that there is a need to further increase the quality of our products to meet the international standards. He said that for this purpose the PSQCA is being streamlined on modern lines.
Soomro said that keeping in view the workload, the number of technical staff has been enhanced. There will be two directors quality control, one will look after Karachi, rest of Sindh and Balochistan and the other will look after the affairs of the Punjab and the NWFP.
He further informed the meeting that the Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Chaudhry Nauroze Shakoor, has expressed satisfaction at the performance of the PSQCA.
