Pakistan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Dr Maleeha Lodhi on Monday opened six-day exhibition of contemporary art by emerging artists of Pakistan at Gallery 27 in the fashionable district of Mayfair, Central London.
The exhibition has been organised by Karachi-based Retro Arts which works closely with a local charity Karachi School for Deaf founded in 1990 that has been functioning and providing education and guidance to the handicapped deaf children in Pakistan's biggest city.
The artists whose work feature in the exhibition include Aarij Hashmi, Asad Hayee, Aysha M. Durrani, Amean J, Asif Ahmad, Ayesha Jatoi, Butool Waheed, Fatima Saeed, Hadia Moiz, Imran Ahmad, Irfan Gul Dahri, Izdeyar Setna, Nashmia Haroon, Nurayah Sheikh, Nisar Ahmad, Sascha Akhtar, Shazia Alam, Shah Murad Aliani, Shehrbano Qizilbash, Sobia Ahmad, Syed Faraz Ali, Usman Saeed,Tariq Usman Luni, Waseem Ahmad, Yousuf Bashir, Zahra Mirza.
Speaking on the occasion, the High Commissioner praised the works of the Pakistani artists and said the country has produced some of the most outstanding artists whose works have gained international recognition.
