Planemaker Airbus announced a revamped plan for selling factories on Monday, shortlisting five of 11 bidders and warning there could be a delay if it decides to add a seventh plant to the process.
Airbus said it was in talks with Britain's GKN, France's Latecoere, Spirit Aerosystems Holdings Inc of the United States, and German firms Voith and MT Aerospace, part of OHB Technology AG. Parent firm EADS plans to sell all or part of six of 16 Airbus plants as part of its Power8 cost-savings plan, which was prompted in part by the costly delay of the Airbus A380 superjumbo.
Airbus said on Monday that it would decide soon whether to add a plant in Augsburg, Germany, to the process, but said that would delay the overall sale. EADS shares rose 0.8 percent to 20.50 euros by 1425 GMT.
