The emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, met Tuesday with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in New York, Israeli diplomatic sources said.
The meeting on the margins of the UN General Assembly took place at the Qatari mission, the Israeli spokesman said, declining to reveal the contents of their discussions. Qatar does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, but the Jewish state has a commercial interests office in Doha and representatives of the two countries also meet on a regular basis.
